The FIA has officially confirmed the zones where it will be possible for drivers to use the Drag Reduction System (DRS) in the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship.
After the three days of pre-season testing last week, teams and drivers will return to battle at the Sakhir International Circuit, which will have the honour of opening a “maxi” calendar consisting of 22 appointments (23 if Russia is replaced) that will be spread up to in mid-December when the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled to take place.
As last year, the race direction has chosen to activate three zones, which will be positioned on the main straight of the circuit located on the outskirts of Manama, in the opposite line that leads from Turn 10 to Turn 11 and in the straight between turns 3 and 4. As like time, each zone will have its own activation point, which will be positioned before Turn 15, between 9 and 10 and immediately after 1.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free sessions lasting one hour on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to evaluate their set-up in view of the qualifying session, scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Green light on Sunday afternoon at 17.00.
