The Formula 1 movie released in June 2025 could get a sequel: the statements from Tim Cook
The success of the Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt inevitably sparked discussions about a possible sequel. Since its release, it has generated mixed reactions between traditional fans and those who welcomed the project. What remains undeniable are the record-breaking box office numbers achieved throughout the summer.
The film directed by Joseph Kosinski also had Lewis Hamilton involved in the production. Filming took place during Grand Prix weekends using two modified Formula 2 cars. A particularly memorable scene was the podium sequence featuring cameo appearances from Charles Leclerc and George Russell at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Talks about the future
In an interview with Variety, the Apple CEO spoke about the possibility of a sequel to the Formula 1 movie. With 600 million dollars in revenue, it has become the most successful sports film of all time. A major contribution, beyond the presence of actors Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, has come from the incredible rise of Formula 1, which is enjoying record levels of global popularity.
“A sequel is definitely something we are talking about. It was a huge summer success for us. We are so proud of this. The talent involved is on another level. Brad did an incredible job in his role as an actor. We are really proud of it and we cannot wait to bring this forward,” declared Tim Cook.
The main characters in the film are Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, and Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. The two compete for the APXGP team and go up against the other Formula 1 teams in the battle for the championship. Both actors drove the cars themselves, which even took part in the formation lap of the 2023 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
