The rear suspension of the Ferrari is particularly interesting and unusual: the images provided by Giorgio Piola for Motorsport Italy highlight how the upper triangle is oriented towards the front of the F1-75, while the lower one is the exact opposite with the front arm that is faired in the carbon structure which also includes the semi axle.
The Maranello engineers led by Enrico Cardile have chosen to arrange the internal kinematics of the suspension with a pull rod pattern inside the rear axle for a logical weight distribution, while they have undoubtedly offset the lower triangle towards the rear, looking for a design that improves the search for traction and motor skills, two characteristics that enhance the qualities of the F1-75 car.
Last year we saw, both on the Mercedes W12 and on the Red Bull RB16B, the intention to exploit the suspension arms for aerodynamic purposes: both teams, in fact, had decided to anchor the convergence arm to the deformable structure, despite knowing that they would have had some more stiffness problems.
Scuderia Ferrari, therefore, sought the same result without wishing to take risks of reliability: the convergence arm is actually outside the carbon gearbox but is anchored to the outer wall of the transmission by means of a slot, as explained by Franco Nugnes for Motorsport Italy. Thanks to the time available, the Maranello technicians were able to develop a solution that guarantees maximum suspension stiffness, but at the same time they did not have to make any sacrifices from an aerodynamic point of view.
And it is no coincidence, therefore, that the F1-75 is one of the most efficient cars, if not the best in the first phase of acceleration out of slow corners.

The shape of the F1-75, with the sidepods equipped with the upper excavation, certainly contributes to increasing the vertical thrust at low speeds, but also the mechanical aspect has taken on an important role this year in protecting the tires, since with the new Pirelli tyres, the suspensions must also fulfill the role of reducing the stress on the tires.
