Formula 1 teams have started to face a new issue in the 2021 season: any expensive damage they pick up through crashes eats into the new spending limit that is in the rules this year. This situation has led to calls from Ferrari and Red Bull that the teams of the drivers responsible for accidents should pay for rivals’ damage, or damage that isn’t the fault of the driver in question shouldn’t come out of the capped budgets.
