According to leading German automobile magazine Auto motor und sport (AMuS), Scuderia Ferrari has finally identified the cause of the correlation problem between the simulations and wind tunnel data with the actual results from the track and the Maranello team is working to fix the issue ahead of the development for the 2019 Formula One season.
Interestingly, after the summer break, all the developments that took place behind the front wheels failed. On the other hand, the front wing presented in Sochi by Scuderia Ferrari and the front brake ventilation delivered the desired results.
Auto motor und sport also reports on the difficulties encountered by the Maranello team during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend and the lack of pace in qualifying and the race on Sunday. It seems that Ferrari sacrificed their top speed in Brazil for the qualifying session in order to have more downforce, because the Italian side was afraid of possible tyre problems and rain in qualifying. With Ferrari’s usual superior top speed, the Maranello team would have gained more time than they would have lost in the corners. And since there was not much tyre degradation in the race, Ferrari’s pace was compromised by the configuration for the race, a setup which was made due to the fact that rain was expected for the qualifying session, as well as the main event on Sunday afternoon. Eventually the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend took place in dry conditions, which, alonsgide Sebastian Vettel’s sensior issue, explains the outcome of Ferrari’s result at Interlagos, according to Auto motor und sport.
