Alfa Romeo Racing has finalized the homologation of the 2020 car body from the FIA, after initially failing the front crash test in an attempt to create an extreme nose. It took only a few interventions to comply with the regulatory security constraints.
Alfa Romeo also therefore homologated the chassis of the C39. The Hinwil team had to repeat the frontal test because it had initially brought a very extreme nose solution that had not passed the dynamic crash, but now everything is in place. It is in the conception of the technical staff to try and create a very extreme nose, following the most efficient aerodynamic options. Despite having the Ferrari power, the single-seater designed by Luca Furbatto had orientations that in certain choices followed the concepts of the world champion Mercedes.

The C38, in fact, adopted the cape (the “Manta cloak” under the nose) well before what the Maranello team did at the Singapore GP, favoring a very narrow nose profile with the front extractor which had evolved with a series of interesting blows in search of aerodynamic downforce on the front.
The team led by Vasseur has confirmed the two drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi who hope to bring the Alfa brand higher in the Constructors’ championship ranking of that ninth place last year. At the moment the teams that are already in order with the homologation of the chassis are: Racing Point, Ferrari, Williams, Haas and Toro Rosso, to which Alfa Romeo has been added.
As reported by Motorsport Italy, Mercedes has to complete a rear test, while Red Bull, Renault and McLaren have yet to get the ok from the FIA.
