Alberto Sabbatini feels “Ferrari made a mistake with SF-23 front suspension”. "Ferrari made a mistake with SF-23 front suspension".

The Miami weekend was once again disappointing for Scuderia Ferrari. The Maranello team encountered a lot of difficulties, particularly in terms of race pace, while for the Italian side, the updates brought at the Miami International Autodrome in Florida, USA seem to have had no effect on improving the SF-23 car’s performance. Respected Italian journalist Alberto Sabbatini expressed his concern about the Maranello team’s new updates and the non-functioning suspension of the car in an interview for Pit-Talk.

“There is a lot to worry about, after all, we have seen that this year’s car is wrong in all the races. In some way, it does not work well or is so critical that they only manage to get a few results, they only did it in qualifying. They did something in Australia, but we did not get confirmation of the race pace with Charles Leclerc. The car does not work in the other races. This is the car made by the team led by Mattia Binotto and inherited by Fred Vasseur. Mattia Binotto is no longer there, but it cannot be said that it is the other’s car. The engineers who produced it are still there, except David Sanchez who left.” – Alberto Sabbatini pointed out.

“All this was an attempt to improve last year’s car, which was very efficient in the first part of the season, with some weaknesses. This attempt had the opposite effect, that is, to have worse performance. So they don’t know which way to go, in my opinion. I can also give credibility to Fred Vasseur’s approach which says: “The car is very strong in qualifying, so it cannot be wrong”. They have been trying to set it up for the race for four rounds now and they can’t. This means they have a car that is so critical that it is not competitive.” – he added.

“During winter testing, someone fairly close to Ferrari, who knew internal things, had told me that the team had made a mistake with the front suspension. For this reason, they cannot get the tires to work at the mechanical level, in the geometry of the suspensions. He had put this information aside, but in the end, the problem of the tires not turning, like Charles Leclerc was complaining of great understeer, is caused by the suspension. All these aerodynamic updates are useless if the suspension arms do not correctly support the front wheels on the ground.” – the Sport and automotive journalist concluded.

Two (2) decades and they need someone else from another team to inform them of yet another mistake. I am speechless.
