The 2024 Formula 1 season is now in full swing, and teams have already started planning for the future, with Carlos Sainz seemingly having fewer options for his future. The Spanish driver, after announcing his departure from Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the current championship, is searching for a seat for 2025, although the offers on the table seem to be dwindling.
Following rumors about interest from Mercedes and Red Bull, the two top teams now appear to be leaning towards choices that do not involve number 55. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff will likely play the Kimi Antonelli card, while Red Bull team boss Christian Horner seems intent on renewing Sergio Perez’s contract for another year, despite the poor performance shown by the Mexican driver last season and even in the start of the 2024 F1 campaign.
For this reason, the options available to Carlos Sainz seem to be essentially two. On one hand, there is an offer from Sauber, which is particularly interesting in light of Audi’s entry in 2026, and on the other hand, there are rumors of a possible deal with Williams.
James Vowles, after renewing Alex Albon’s contract, will say goodbye to Logan Sargeant. The American driver, despite never having a very competitive car, has not fully convinced, and what happened in Australia has definitively ended his relationship with the historic British team.

In recent weeks, there was talk of a possible agreement between Vowles and Valtteri Bottas, given their past relationship at Mercedes, but the opportunity to sign a top driver like Carlos Sainz seems to intrigue Wolff’s former right-hand man more.
Speaking on the matter during the F1 Nation podcast, Tom Clarkson revealed the advice Eddie Jordan gave to Carlos Sainz Senior. “He told him that Sauber is not the right choice for Carlos’s future,” Tom Clarkson said. “According to Eddie Jordan, going to Williams could be an excellent move, especially considering the Mercedes power unit, which looks promising for 2026.”
