Adrian Newey’s future
These are reflective days for Adrian Newey. Days in which the Briton has found himself at the center of the Formula 1 market and the attention of teams. Everyone (or almost everyone) wants him, but only one will get him. Although Ferrari is in pole position to secure the genius car designer, it has always been clear that the final decision will rest with Adrian Newey himself, and only a change of heart on his part could derail the deal.
Adrian Newey’s entourage is working on multiple fronts and continues to listen to all those interested in the designer. There might be an agreement with Ferrari (the negotiation dates back over a year), but the signature is still missing. And considering Adrian Newey’s stature in the paddock, this is no small detail. Therefore, until official confirmation arrives, even the improbable can become reality.
Eddie Jordan’s comments
His business manager, Eddie Jordan, spoke about Adrian Newey’s future, keeping all options open (rightly so, given his role): “A deal with Ferrari? That’s not the case, I can bet my life on that. At the moment, there is no intention to go in any particular direction. We are evaluating opportunities and letting others come to talk to us,” he said on the podcast Formula for Success.
“There will be talks, and there will be ongoing talks because we still have to decide what Adrian wants to do. He has worked in this field since university, then with Leyton House, McLaren, and Williams. He is 65 years old: in addition to all the potential teams we are talking about, the fifth team he should consider (besides Leyton House, McLaren, Williams, and Red Bull) is himself. It will always be Adrian’s decision, and that’s how it should be.” – Eddie Jordan pointed out.
