After the podium achieved by the Maranello team in front of the Tifosi in the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit, Scuderia Ferrari secured its first victory in the Fred Vasseur era at the Singapore Grand Prix
A weekend that was expected to be challenging for the Scuderia due to the characteristics of the Marina Bay circuit. However, the weekend got off to a great start with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc showing impressive speed from Friday, confirming the excellent work carried out by the Maranello team during the summer break.
Carlos Sainz managed to secure his first win of the 2023 Formula 1 championship, boosting the Maranello team’s morale as they approach the final events of 2023 and, most importantly, looking ahead to the 2024 Formula 1 campaign.
At the end of the race, Frederic Vasseur commented on the result achieved in Singapore. “I have to say it’s an incredible feeling. A victory that comes after a very challenging first part of the season for us. I’m really pleased for the entire team after the pole position and podium at Monza,” stated Fred Vasseur. “I am more than satisfied with everyone, both those here at the track and those at the factory. Carlos did a fantastic job in managing the race.” – the French manager pointed out.
The Team Principal of the Scuderia then discussed the strategy chosen by the Italian side. “Certainly, the goal was to get both cars up front right away. That’s why Charles started on soft tires while Carlos started on mediums. Unfortunately, with the Safety Car, we were a bit unlucky as Leclerc encountered traffic in the pit lane, and we lost a couple of positions. We knew Mercedes had one more set of mediums than us and that we would be at risk with a Safety Car. However, our pace was good enough to keep them behind.” – Fred Vasseur concluded following the Singapore Grand Prix.
