The 2026 United States Grand Prix is expected to take place in hot, mostly dry conditions in Austin, with maximum temperatures close to 30°C throughout the weekend and only a very low risk of rain. More cloud cover is forecast for Sunday’s race, when the chance of precipitation rises to 10%.
Sun returns for the 2026 United States GP
After strong thunderstorms hit the previous two championship rounds in Malaysia and Singapore, the United States Grand Prix is not expected to produce similar weather surprises at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin. Texas, the US state bordering Mexico, should instead host a race weekend in very different conditions, beginning with a much lower risk of rain.
According to AccuWeather.com, the probability of precipitation will remain minimal throughout the weekend and is never expected to exceed 10%. That highest figure is forecast only for race day, when greater cloud cover is also expected compared with Friday and Saturday.
During free practice and qualifying, temperatures are forecast to rise as high as 30°C, while the chance of rain remains extremely low. That should make sunshine and heat the defining weather features of the Austin weekend after the much wetter conditions seen during Formula 1’s previous two events.
