2026 F1 Hungarian GP race live from Budapest
Good afternoon to all our ScuderiaFans.com readers. We are live from Budapest to bring you minute-by-minute coverage of the race, the decisive session in which the points will be awarded at the 2026 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix. The formation lap begins at 15:00 and will set the stage for 70 laps around the Hungaroring.
Lando Norris will start from pole position after unexpectedly—although perhaps not entirely surprisingly—setting the fastest time in Q3. The result brought disappointment for Ferrari, who missed pole on the only occasion this season when Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton had both managed to qualify ahead of the two Mercedes drivers. The penalties subsequently reshaped the order, with the confirmed Hungarian Grand Prix starting grid placing Charles Leclerc on the front row and Lewis Hamilton fifth.
Ferrari and Kimi Antonelli threaten Lando Norris
There could still be several surprises during the race, particularly because virtually nobody has properly tested the Hard tyres. Friday’s long-run simulations also complicated the competitive picture, with the Ferrari SF-26 expected to be firmly in contention. The Italian team’s consistency over longer stints explains why Ferrari remain confident in their race pace despite narrowly missing pole position.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli should not be counted out either. Despite his grid penalty, the Italian driver remains a potential threat after Mercedes demonstrated impressive long-run competitiveness during FP2. The Silver Arrows should therefore remain part of the battle, even during a weekend in which they lacked outright performance over a single qualifying lap.
