It was a disastrous weekend for McLaren in Canada, allowing Ferrari to pull further clear of the Woking-based team in the fight for second place in the constructors’ championship, with Mercedes continuing to look untouchable at the top.
Despite George Russell’s retirement, Mercedes still added another victory to its tally thanks to Andrea Kimi Antonelli, whose latest win further reinforced the Silver Arrows’ commanding lead in the standings.
Ferrari emerged as one of the biggest winners from the weekend, collecting crucial points through Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, while Red Bull also strengthened its position with a valuable result.
Alpine also enjoyed an important points haul, while Racing Bulls, Williams and Haas all capitalised on the dramatic and unpredictable nature of the Canadian Grand Prix to add valuable points to their season totals.
