2025 F1 Australian GP weather forecast: will rain and cyclone Alfred threaten Melbourne weekend?. Rain appears to be a concrete risk for the first race of 2025 in Australia.

Ferrari F1 fans, Tifosi

F1 is ready to return to the track in Melbourne for the first race of the 2025 World Championship. Let’s take a look at the weather forecast for the Australian GP, which could bring rain and bad weather, especially on race day Sunday.

These are not calm days for Australia, as severe weather is affecting the northeastern part of the country. Cyclone Alfred, as referred to by authorities and the press, is causing serious disruptions in the state of Queensland, near the capital Brisbane. The tropical cyclone has led to service outages and blackouts after causing one fatality over the weekend. The critical weather conditions due to the cyclone’s passage threaten Australia just a week before the arrival of Formula One. On Sunday, March 16, the Circus will be at Albert Park in Melbourne for the first round of the 2025 F1 World Championship.

With the cyclone passing over Queensland, a state in northeastern Australia, the city of Melbourne should avoid the direct impact of “Alfred.” The Grand Prix is set to take place in the capital of the state of Victoria, located in the southeastern part of the country.

F1 – 2025 Australian GP: Weather Forecast
The Australian weekend, marking the debut of the 2025 F1 World Championship, will not be free from the risk of showers. During the three days of track action at Albert Park, rain will pose a concrete threat, particularly on “Race Day” on Sunday, March 16.

FRIDAY, MARCH 14
According to the Australian government’s Bureau of Meteorology, Friday, March 14, will bring some clouds over Melbourne. The cars are expected to take to the track under a partly cloudy sky, with occasional light rain possible. Temperatures will range between 15 and 32°C.

The risk of rain for FP1 and FP2 is estimated at 20%.

SATURDAY, MARCH 15
Qualifying day will be mostly sunny, with a chance of rain later in the day. Wind will be a more significant factor than on Friday, but precipitation should be minimal. Temperatures will rise compared to Friday, reaching up to 35°C.

SUNDAY, MARCH 16

The minimum temperature will be 24°C, with a maximum of 30°C, lower than on previous days.

The risk of rain increases significantly compared to Friday and Saturday. The chance of a downpour over Albert Park on Sunday is estimated at 80%. On GP day, Canberra government authorities expect up to 8mm of rainfall.
