If the just-concluded Formula 1 season, with its 23 races (although later reduced to 22 due to the cancellation of the Imola Grand Prix), tested the teams both physically and mentally, the 2024 calendar, with a whopping 24 Grand Prix events scheduled, promises to be even more challenging in that regard. With the 2023 season archived after the Abu Dhabi tests, it’s time to look ahead to the next season, with all the teams having already confirmed their lineups except for Williams.
The 2024 Grid: Confirmed Drivers So Far
Starting with the dominating team of the 2023 season, Red Bull, we’ll find, for the third consecutive year, the duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, despite the latter being the subject of transfer rumors for months. However, the Mexican should, barring any dramatic turns of events, line up at the start of the next championship still as a Red Bull driver.
At Mercedes, the British pair of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell is also confirmed, both having renewed their contracts that tie them to the Brackley-based team at least until 2025.
In Ferrari, extensions for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are just a matter of weeks, if not days. Despite some friction between them last season and this year, the duo has proven to work well together, and the prancing horse has no intention of parting ways with either of them.
Regarding McLaren, there’s no doubt about the lineup consisting of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The Australian has impressed the team in his debut year, securing an extension until 2026, while Lando’s contract is currently set to expire in 2025.
Moving to Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will continue to be teammates, despite strong rumors about the two-time world champion’s potential interest in Red Bull towards the end of the season. Stroll, however, remains untouched despite a rather subdued Formula One season.

Alpine also continues with continuity, having confirmed the all-French duo of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. A different scenario unfolds at Williams, with the Grove-based team not yet officially confirming Logan Sargeant for the upcoming season.
The AlphaTauri lineup, or should we say Racing Bulls, is the one that garnered the most attention in 2023, considering the strong rumors about Perez, the meteoric rise of Lawson, and Daniel Ricciardo’s return to F1. In the end, it will be Daniel Ricciardo who partners with Yuki Tsunoda again in 2024, with the Japanese driver having an excellent season.
No changes are expected at Alfa Romeo, which will revert to being Sauber next year, and at Haas. In 2024, we will still see the pairs Bottas-Zhou and Magnussen-Hulkenberg, despite the German revealing that he was contacted by the Italo-Swiss team at the beginning of the season.
