After completing the first eight hours of testing in Bahrain, let’s discover who will take to the track tomorrow during the morning and afternoon sessions at the Sakhir circuit.
Following today’s initial run, teams are ready to return to the track for the second day of testing in Bahrain, with many drivers who did not take the wheel in the first eight hours inheriting it from their respective teammates. This includes Mercedes and Red Bull, with Lewis Hamilton hitting the track for the first time in the W15, while Sergio Perez will have the opportunity to test the RB20, which has already shown tremendous potential in the hands of Max Verstappen.
The Dutch driver clocked 1:31.344 with the C3 compound, over a second faster than the second-placed Lando Norris, using the same tire, and Carlos Sainz, who finished third in the afternoon.
As usual, from the second day onward, we should have more reliable feedback in terms of both qualifying and race simulations, with Ferrari standing out for excellent long runs in tire degradation.
Despite the significant gap with Red Bull, Charles Leclerc expressed confidence in the work done: “Regarding performance, it’s simply too early to judge and draw conclusions. We conducted the planned tests, and everything is proceeding as scheduled. We will continue to work and hope to have two more productive days in preparation for the Grand Prix.”
