The first part of the 2024 Formula 1 season has come to an end, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull leading both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ standings despite the challenges. However, in motorsport, there’s a third ranking, not valid for any trophy, but one that every team keeps an eye on: the damage costs. Every repair costs teams effort to restore the car, but more importantly, it impacts the budget.
The Complete Ranking
Unlike any other competition, in this ranking, no driver ever wants to be at the top, because it means they’ve had the most accidents, and therefore, their team has spent the most money just to get them back on track.
After just fourteen rounds, the Mexican Red Bull driver Sergio Perez leads the list, having caused $3,636,000 in damages. In second place is Thai driver Alexander Albon with $2,395,000, while the Canadian Lance Stroll rounds out the podium, costing Aston Martin only $1,420,000.
The driver who made his team spend the least on repairs is Pierre Gasly. According to the ranking, the Frenchman hasn’t caused his team to spend a single dollar on repairs. Below is the complete ranking.
