In Maranello there is a festive atmosphere, even if in the Ferrari Racing Department staff members have to work even one day before Christmas. It may seem incredible but around the chassis of the 675 the first pre-assembly process began with suspension parts that arrived in the last few days. A puzzle that will be completed as the individual components arrive ready to be mounted on the new car.

The official launch of the 2023 Ferrari Formula 1 car is set for February 14 and the timeframe follows a clear program that is strictly respected according to the plans that Mattia Binotto made before the former Ferrari team principal definitively left the Racing Department after 28 years.

And, although no official announcement was made from Maranello, the chassis of the 675 should have passed all the crash tests to obtain homologation by the FIA, according to Motorsport Italy.

In short, the development of the new single-seater proceeds smoothly, supported by the simulation data which estimate a 2023 car that is clearly more competitive than the F1-75 which paved the way for ground effect cars in the hybrid era.

There is an interesting fact to note, according to Motorsport Italy: in the test rooms of the engine department you hear much less… music. The 066/7 power unit caused the engineers directed by Enrico Gualtieri to suffer a lot in the 2022 Formula 1 season due to the repeated failures that undermined its reliability. The duration targets set for the next championship have already been achieved, so the activity at the test benches has had a significant reduction that goes in the direction of the budget cap to which engine manufacturers will also have to comply starting from 2023.

Frederic Vasseur will begin his daily operations from 9 January, the day he actually takes over the office in Maranello, even if he has already visited Maranello a few times in the last weekend, meeting with Mattia Binotto for a general overview passing. The Frenchman will have to deal not so much with the car performance, but with the team structure to avoid the mistakes that have emerged in the last championship, concluded by the Italian side in second place in both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ championship.

Motorsport Italy points out that Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, is very active since the announcement of Mattia Binotto’s resignation. After being rather sidelined in the 2022 F1 season, he wants to take on a more active role alongside Fred Vasseur.
