Formula 1 is back in the USA, with a preview from Brembo regarding the impact of braking at the Austin circuit.
Thanks to the data provided by Brembo, we take a look at a preview and analysis of the main braking situations that the drivers will have to face in Austin.
The Circuit of the Americas is ready to host its tenth Formula One event. This will be the second Grand Prix that takes place in the United States this season and the Austin race is certainly one of the most enjoyable for drivers among modern tracks.
The first sector, after the uphill turn 1, presents an alternation of fast corners reminiscent of Silverstone. The second sector is mainly characterized by the very long straight which always offers excellent overtaking opportunities. The third and last sector of the track has a fast corner and several medium or low speed corners.
According to Brembo, the track falls into the category of medium-demanding circuits regarding the braking system of single-seaters (3/5). The drivers will press the brake for 17 and a half seconds per lap, that is a total of 12 times. For the entire period of the United States Grand Prix that will be held on Sunday, the drivers will exert a load of 64 and a half tons on the brake pedal. For example, in turn 11 and turn 12, 141 kg for 2.3 seconds and 136 kg for 3 seconds must be applied to the brake respectively to allow a Formula 1 to make the corner!
