All the Formula 1 teams are currently working hard on their projects for the ground effect single-seaters that will take to the track starting next year, and after a high-tension 2021 Formula 1 season, concluded only in the last race of the last round in Abu Dhabi, the first fears began to circulate that some team could make the most of the gray areas of the regulation to have an advantage.
The possibility that one or two teams will immediately find themselves in front of everyone at the beginning of the season is not remote, but in the course of an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com, Stefano Domenicali said he was certain that in such a situation who will have to chase will be able to recover the disadvantage in a short time.
“It is clear that in a season characterized by the new regulation and the budget cap there could be performance differences between the cars that are greater than what the public can expect. “The ground-effect cars were designed to highlight the skills of the drivers. They are cars that do not suffer from the tow effect and that are not affected by the dirty air that rapidly deteriorates the tires. The goal is to have many duels on the track without the drivers being conditioned by the limits of the car.” – the former Ferrari boss explained.
