Valtteri Bottas won the 2021 Italian Grand Prix F1 Sprint, but it is Red Bull driver Max Verstappen who will start on pole tomorrow due to Bottas’ engine penalty. Daniel Ricciardo will be on the front row tomorrow.
The Saftey Car was deployed after the start of the second ever Sprint Qualifying race, as Pierre Gasly crashed after in the first sector. Both Scuderia Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz started the race on the medium tyre and gained a place at the end of lap 1. as Charles also managed to get ahead of his teammate.
After the restart, Charles and Carlos found themselves behind Lewis Hamilton, but were able to stay ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi and most importantly a charging Sergio Perez, as the Mexican racing driver did not manage to capitalize on the speed of his Red Bull car.
No points on Saturday for the Ferrari drivers, but a good starting position for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, as the Maranello team will attempt to stay as close as possible to the McLaren cars of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo and therefore not lose to many points in the fight for third place in the Formula 1 Constructor Standings. As a result of Valtteri Bottas’ engine penalty, Charles Leclerc will start fifth and Carlos Sainz sixth.
