The Hockenheimring track contains fast straights, technical sections and is relatively low on tyre degradation due to its smooth surface, however the cooler temperatures can make keeping the rubber in the required performance window tricky. This year sees Hockenheim return to the calendar after a one year break, prior to that the race alternated between here and the Nurburgring, which makes the track somewhat of an unknown quantity this time around.

From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, although in Germany this time things look pretty straightforward. Conditions appear near-on perfect this year ahead of the 2018 Formula 1 German Grand Prix weekend. Sun will be shining bright for the race on Sunday, July 22 with a temperature of around 27-degree Celsius. There is a slight chance of rain on Saturday, when the qualifying session is scheduled to take place at the Hockenheimring Circuit, but most likely the session will take place in dry conditions.
