Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel reflects on the challenge at Interlagos:
“We have two more races to go and I am looking forward to racing. I think this is not the right time to draw conclusions as the Championship is not completely over yet. I would like to win these last two races. The last two Grands Prix were better for us in terms of pace, so hopefully we can continue like that and we be able to win. For sure, we’ll try to do the best that we can. We want to focus on winning the Constructors’ Championship, trying to put our main competitors as far back as we can. As for this circuit, it is difficult to predict what will happen, as Interlagos has an unusual layout, one on which… things just happen. We’ll see how the weather turns out, but I believe it’s going to be a challenging weekend. Along the way something went wrong for us this year and we need to make sure we learn from it; clearly we missed something and it’s up to us to fix it and make sure it won’t happen again” – the German driver said, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website.
Sebastian Vettel has also issued a challenge to is Ferrari team to learn from their mistakes in 2018 in order to take the fight to Mercedes once again next season. Vettel went from seeming title favourite in the summer to being blown away by Lewis Hamilton in the second half of the season. Asked about Ferrari’s costly dip, Vettel said:
“It’s a big question. Obviously along the way something went wrong and we need to learn from it. I think something went wrong, as in we didn’t go and develop something in the right direction. So we missed something, not on purpose and not because something was by default set wrong. So it’s up to us to find what went wrong and make sure it doesn’t happen again. It’s as simple as that, but not so simple to find and fix it as it sounds.” – Sebastian Vettel concluded.
