Carlos Sainz continues to not choose his next team, causing tension in the paddock among other drivers, including Zhou Guanyu. The Chinese driver still does not have a contract for the next season and, apparently, is being held up by Carlos Sainz’s decision.
For days, there has been talk about the current Ferrari driver not making a choice, blocking the driver market. Some criticisms of the Spaniard have already been made in the past, but now, nearing the second half of the season, there is a need for clarity about the future.
At the Silverstone GP, the Stake driver spoke about the state of the driver market and did not hold back his criticism of the Spaniard. “His attitude is incomprehensible. I really don’t understand why he continues to not make his choice.”
“I don’t think it’s such a difficult decision to make. He doesn’t have the option to choose a team that will almost certainly have the chance to fight for the Championship, both drivers and constructors. His choice is limited to teams that occupy the mid-table, so I don’t think it should take this long,” the Chinese driver continued.
“I don’t understand what he’s thinking, but it’s absurd. We are waiting for his decision, nothing more to add,” concluded the driver, whose contract with Stake is expiring.
In short, the other drivers are also starting to lose patience, and Carlos Sainz’s delay in making a decision is not beneficial for the entire paddock. The choice could still come in the next few weeks, around the summer break.
