During the pre-season tests in Bahrain, Lewis Hamilton spoke about his learning process at Ferrari, also mentioning Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis Hamilton’s comments
Here are the statements from the seven-time world champion: “When will I be at 100% with the car? I don’t have a crystal ball, so I can only say that we are focusing on working one day at a time.”
“We are trying to ensure that every lap helps us learn something more about the car and the various systems we have.”
“I’m still in the learning phase, even in terms of communication with my engineer. But we can say that we are following the plans—we didn’t expect to be further along in this process, given the little time we’ve had.”
“I also looked at how great drivers before me arrived, like Sebastian [Vettel] and Fernando [Alonso], who, for example, joined in November the previous year. I think we have done a lot in the short time we had available, so it has gone great.”
“Learning new terms? Clearly, there are different definitions or names, and I am studying day and night to understand how to call each component.”

“I worked for 12 years in another team and was used to certain terminologies—I knew exactly what everything meant—whereas now, in meetings, everything feels a bit new. It’s all part of the learning process, but I really love it.”
“Will ‘Hammer Time’ stay? We haven’t talked about it yet. I don’t know how it will sound with an Italian accent, but maybe we’ll come up with an Italian expression,” said Lewis Hamilton.
