Ferrari 2026: Lewis Hamilton confident in his abilities
Lewis Hamilton trusts Ferrari, but more importantly, he trusts himself. A clear message for the 2026 Formula 1 season, where, alongside his remarkable resilience—which he described as a surprise—he leans on what made him the most successful driver in F1 history: self-confidence. An important reminder, emphasized by Lewis, highlighting that the passion and spirit of the Maranello team are truly exceptional.
Lewis Hamilton avoids comparisons with Mercedes, but praises Ferrari’s incredible passion
The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion expresses his excitement about joining the Scuderia. Fans will remember the overwhelming crowd that literally took over the Italian town in the province of Modena. The atmosphere was brimming with enthusiasm for the arrival of the driver who, alongside Charles Leclerc, was expected to bring the Prancing Horse back to the top of the world. His iconic photo in front of Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace perfectly captures the moment.
“I will always remember my first day in Maranello. I was with my family, and of course, with the Scuderia. From the very beginning, I realized that the team had an incredible spirit; everyone I met had amazing energy. Without a doubt, it’s a wonderful environment to work in, especially because of the people. There’s a truly incredible passion in this place,” explains the Stevenage-born driver.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion admits that he cannot compare his experience at Mercedes during the wing-car era with his first season in Italy. The differences are too great, and, to be honest, he believes it would not even be fair to talk about the pros and cons of the two environments. “I can’t compare the last world championship with the previous seasons in Brackley—they’re all very different,” Lewis Hamilton says.
Believing in himself is Lewis’ greatest weapon
He continues: “Every year has been different, and nothing in the last championship was easy. Confidence has its ups and downs, but I always believe strongly in my abilities. That’s the most important thing for me personally. It’s certainly not always easy, but it’s what has brought me to where I am today.” This statement underlines how the British driver still has an elite vision of himself.
The final reflection relates to his experience behind the wheel of the Italian car during his first season with Ferrari. Lewis emphasizes that his perspective applies to the whole team, with whom he worked closely during the 2025 championship. He refers to the ability to face challenges, reorganize positively, and come out stronger from the experience.
“I’m not just talking about myself when I speak about resilience, something I had already mentioned last week. I have to say I surprised myself with the great resilience I demonstrated,” comments the Englishman, who then adds a forward-looking reflection: “If I can get through a season like this, there’s nothing else I can’t face.” And he is not wrong.
Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari: the best is yet to come
The Briton arrived in Maranello confident he could fight for the championship or, at the very least, have a competitive car for wins and podiums. Instead, he “woke up in a nightmare,” where almost nothing worked as expected. Lewis Hamilton’s message for 2026 is clear and aligns with his previous comments on Ferrari’s environment: “I take my passion and put it into the next championship to give my absolute best.”
It feels like a warning to anyone who thinks a difficult campaign could break his spirit. On the contrary, Lewis Hamilton continues to feed his burning ambition by clinging to the single biggest factor that made him the winningest driver in Formula 1 history: an unshakable belief in himself and the talent that will finally deliver the results everyone expected when the new regulatory cycle began.
