Italian journalist and TV presenter Federica Masolin has a clear idea of why Charles Leclerc has won the hearts of so many F1 fans, not just those of Ferrari.
The love that fans can have for a driver can be due to different aspects. For example, nationality, track results, personality, or the way of being. Federica Masolin is convinced that it’s precisely this last aspect that has allowed Charles Leclerc to break into the hearts of many enthusiasts.
The Monegasque driver has indeed managed to reignite the passion for Formula 1 and Ferrari in many people. This is despite not yet having achieved very significant results, such as a world championship title, on the track. Speaking on the Passa dal BSMT podcast, Federica Masolin highlighted what she believes are the two main reasons behind Charles Leclerc’s great success. Two reasons that have led people to appreciate him.
“First, because we love talent,” explained the host. “He is talented, and we appreciate that. But for those who are not very familiar with that world [the world of Formula 1, ed], talent or no talent, perhaps it matters a little less.” – she explained – “Then, he is normal. A normal guy, clean, smiling, kind, polite, available. Likable. People like his normality.”
“If we talk about athletes as superheroes, Formula 1 drivers, like those of MotoGP, we really see them as true superheroes. He is a normal superhero. Clean, normal girlfriends, mom at the track, brothers.” – pointed out the former Sky F1 presenter in Italy.

“He has a very beautiful story, in my opinion. He comes from the Ferrari academy, let’s say the quarry if we want, thanks to Jules Bianchi who was his brotherly friend. I don’t know how else to describe it. Jules, in turn, was in the drivers Academy and would have become a Ferrari driver if he hadn’t had that accident in Japan. I don’t know how to tell you. I have a lot of affection for Charles because he is genuinely a good, normal person.”
