Greg James backs Lewis Hamilton to win again despite Ferrari challenges
Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has remained one of the biggest talking points in Formula 1, with the seven-time world champion navigating the immense pressure that comes with racing in red. While results have not always matched expectations so far, support for the British driver remains as strong as ever — and now that backing has come from an unexpected but passionate voice.
British radio DJ, television presenter and author Greg James shared a heartfelt message of confidence in Lewis Hamilton, insisting the Ferrari driver still has what it takes to return to the top step of the podium.
“I’d just cheer him up”
During a light-hearted exchange, Greg James was asked which Formula 1 team he would choose to drive for if given the chance. His response mixed humour with genuine admiration for Lewis Hamilton.
“The team that’s got the biggest car because I wouldn’t be able to fit in any of them,” Greg James joked.
He then turned his attention to Ferrari, adding: “I would actually like to be a Ferrari driver just because the expectation for me will be fairly low. And also I’d maybe get to hang out with Lewis and just cheer him up and just say, look, it’s going to be fine. You’re a legend. It’s going to be fine.”
The comments reflect a wider sentiment among many Formula 1 fans who continue to believe Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari story is far from written, even if the transition to Maranello has presented significant challenges.
“He will win again”
When asked directly whether Lewis Hamilton would return to winning ways, Greg James delivered an emphatic answer: “He will win again. I really do believe that he will win again. He’s not going to go away like this. Top-level sport is so mad and he is— he has done extraordinary things. He can do extraordinary things again. He’ll be back.”
It is a powerful endorsement of a driver whose legacy in Formula 1 is already secure, but whose competitive hunger remains clearly intact.
Ferrari’s current project may still be a work in progress, particularly against rivals with stronger outright pace, but Lewis Hamilton has already shown flashes of the form that made him one of the sport’s most successful drivers. Experience, adaptability and sheer determination remain among his greatest strengths.
For Ferrari supporters, Greg James’ message will likely resonate. If there is one lesson Formula 1 has repeatedly taught over the years, it is that writing off a champion too early is often a mistake.
