Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc will be looking to build on his performance from the Canadian Grand Prix, when he was forced to start the race from the back row at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, but was able to fight back and finish the race in P4, after some a very solid drive up through the field and despite some unfortunate safety car timings given his strategy.
As a result, Ferrari is confident the British Grand Prix, which takes place next weekend at the Silverstone circuit, will see him fighting back at the front of the field and hopefully recover some points to Max Verstappen to continue the battle for the 2022 Formula 1 world title, as the Dutchman now has a comfortable lead in the Drivers standings.
The penalty in Canada means that Charles Leclerc can now rely on a new fresh power unit in the back of his Ferrari F1-75 car and the Monegasque driver is expected to be very competitive at Silverstone as he looks to end the run of consecutive wins for rivals Red Bull.
“Yeah, with a clean package, and Charles’s last words were ‘we need to arrive in Silverstone and smash it’. And you know he’s going to be right back,” Ferrari English senior performance engineer Jock Clear recently said in an interview for F1 Nation – “It’s been quick everywhere,” he said of the Ferrari F1-75 cars ahead of the British Grand Prix – “And I know that Charles will be competitive. And Carlos will have got a lot of confidence. So yeah, but both of them are going to be up there. It’s going to be business as usual. And a very good fight with the Red Bulls.” – he added.
Ferrari’s 58-year-old English senior performance engineer is not the only one who feels the Maranello team will be very strong in Silverstone next weekend, with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner sharing the same view. However, the Red Bull also believes that taking into consideration their pace and performance at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Mercedes will also join the battle this time:

“I think Mercedes will be strong at Silverstone and I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be at Paul Ricard,” said Christian Horner – “I think Ferrari will be quick at Silverstone as well. It could be more of a challenging circuit for us, just due to the nature of its layout. t’s incredible that we’ve put a run of six race victories together, but Silverstone could well be the most challenging yet.” – the Red Bull boss said.
