During the Miami race weekend, celebrities went to great lengths to be present in the paddock of the first of three American races that are scheduled on the 2023 Formula 1 calendar. From Tom Cruise to Vin Diesel, Shakira, Serena and Venus Williams, Queen Latifah, Roger Federer, Ludacris, Will.i.am, and Blaise Matuidi, the event in Florida was too tempting to miss.
The nearly 2 million viewers collected in America by ABC (making Miami 2023 the second-most-watched race ever in the United States) testify to the great attention of the local audience for Formula 1.
Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos were also there
Among the many famous faces, two could not go unnoticed, those of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, who strolled around the paddock and chatted with multiple interlocutors. Elon Musk, founder, CEO and chief technical officer of SpaceX, founder of The Boring Company, co-founder of Neuralink and Open AI, as well as CEO and product architect of Tesla and owner and chairman of Twitter, was seen talking with Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Stefano Domenicali, and Christian Horner, and with Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and sponsor of Red Bull.
Jeff Bezos, founder and chairman of Amazon, founder and CEO of Blue Origin, and owner of The Washington Post, chatted with Stefano Domenicali and went to the Miami starting grid accompanied by Mika Hakkinen and girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, after visiting the McLaren pit wall with Zak Brown.
From Forbes’ recent ranking of billionaires in the world, Elon Musk is second with a fortune of $177.6 billion, with Jeff Bezos third at $129.7 billion. Only Bernard Arnault, who with LVHM controls almost two-thirds of the global fashion and luxury market ($238.7 billion), is ahead of them.

Businessmen like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos couldn’t remain indifferent to the great interest Formula 1 is generating in the United States, and the American branch of The Sun explained their presence in the paddock: “Insiders have assured that a move to acquire the business from current owners is unlikely, but it is highly possible that both are eager to be involved in the boom of this sport. It’s no secret that some big players in the finance world are evaluating potential moves.” Apple, for example, is also not standing by, with CEO Tim Cook present at Austin 2022 and set to produce a film with Brad Pitt.
Elon Musk then tweeted that he spoke with Christian Horner about aerodynamics and batteries in Formula 1 and how to contain haters on social platforms with Mohammed Ben Sulayem, then proposed “a challenge between a Formula 1 car and an electric car, fuel against hybrid.”
For Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, it was not the first time, as the two billionaires were also present last season at the Austin Grand Prix.
