Why betting on Ferrari this season can bring unexpected results

Why Betting on Ferrari This Season Can Bring Unexpected Results?

If you’re a Formula 1 fan, the upcoming 2025 season, scheduled to start in March, must have brewed a lot of speculation. Teams like the Red Bull Racing Honda RBPT and McLaren Mercedes have been topping the charts lately, so it may seem intuitive to want to place a wager on either of them.

Just like in Formula 1, where every move can change the outcome, betting on sports can offer unexpected thrills and rewards. Although casinos don’t always offer bets on Formula 1, sports betting and other games and tournaments are often available for those seeking new emotions. Just like the huge variety of slots with 25 free spins no deposit UK or cash bonuses for games, feeling the true rush and excitement.

Factors That Can Influence Ferrari’s Performance This Season

After coming second in the 2024 F1 season, Ferrari has made quite a number of modifications that will increase their chances of winning this year. So, before you head to that sportsbook to bet on Ferrari this season, here are some factors you should take note of that can influence their performance.

Driver Line-Up

The Ferrari driver’s line-up is made up of two exceptional drivers, the Monegasque racer Charles Leclerc and British racer Lewis Hamilton. Leclerc started his F1 career in 2016 when he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy and was signed as a development driver for Haas and Ferrari. He was the runner-up in the 2022 F1 Driver’s Championship with Ferrari and has won eight Grand Prix across seven seasons.

Moreover, British driver Lewis Hamilton started his F1 career at McLaren-Mercedes in 2007. He joined Ferrari in 2025 and is contracted to remain until at least the end of 2026. Hamilton is a seven-time joint-record winner of the F1 World Drivers’ Championship and holds the record for the most wins at 105, podium finishes at 202, and pole positions at 104.

SF-25 Upgrades

Another factor influencing Ferrari’s performance this season is upgrades in the newly announced SF-25. The SF-25 is similar to Ferrari’s previous season, the SF-24, but with one significant change ─ switching from push to pull-road front suspension, allowing room for more aerodynamics.

In a statement from Ferrari, “The thinking behind this change in architecture was to clean up the airflow around the car while also giving greater scope for further aero development, which had pretty much been exhausted with the previous iteration.” The SF-25 will also feature a 1600-CC total displacement 1.6L V6 turbocharged engine, generating up to 15,000 RPM.

Historical Performance and New Development

Scuderia Ferrari is a highly competitive team in the F1 World Championship. Nicknamed the “Prancing Horse,” Ferrari is one of the oldest surviving and most successful teams in F1 competition, winning up to 16 constructor’s championships and 247 race victories.

However, since 2008, Ferrari has not won another F1 Championship. Nevertheless, Ferrari has never placed below third for the last four consecutive seasons. Following this trajectory, we can expect the 2025 season to be even better, considering Ferrari’s significant changes to its team. The table below shows Ferrari’s positions in the last six seasons of the F1 Championship:

Why This Season Can Bring Unexpected Results for Ferrari?

10 teams and 20 drivers come together every season of the F1 World Championship to compete. The 2025 season is one such season with significant changes that can bring unexpected results, and below are some of those changes we can expect:

Minimum Weight Changes

One significant change we can expect to see in the 2025 season is the increase in the minimum driver’s weight allowed. It has increased from 80 kg, or 176.4 lb, to 82 kg, or 180.8 lb. As such, the overall minimum weight of the car without fuel will also increase from 789 kg or 1759 lb to 800 kg or 1764 lb.

Driver Cooling

The FIA will introduce a driver cooling kit for the 2025 season. However, the FIA will only mandate this system during hot climates with an increase in the minimum weight of cars, correspondingly when applicable. The introduction of this cooling kit is to avoid the reoccurrence of overheating witnessed at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix.

New DRS Parameters

FIA also introduced reduces the slot gaps parameter for the rear wing between the two modes of the Drag Reduction System (DRS). The new minimum will be shrunk from:

  • Lower boundary – 10-15 mm to 94 -13 mm;
  • Upper boundary – Remains 85 mm.

Similarly, the FIA tightened up the rules on the DRS modes, allowing only two positions. They will also introduce new and stringent deflection tests on the rear wing from the opening round, and another test on the front wing will be introduced from the Spanish Grand Prix onwards.

Number of Gearboxes

There will be no gearbox limit in the 2025 season. Previously, the FIA had a maximum of five gearboxes per season plus five drivetrains. This restriction has been removed due to the reliability of the current design, making it obsolete.

Fasters Lap Points

In 2019, the FIA reintroduced a rule awarding points to drivers for finishing in the top ten positions for the fastest lap in the race. However, for the 2025 season, the FIA has eliminated this rule, reducing one-way drivers earn points.

Conclusion

Ferrari is an exceptional team, and things look promising for them. The latest upgrades on the SF-25 and Lewis Hamilton joining the team are notable developments that can shape their new season.

Nevertheless, it’s too early to start making predictions, considering the new rules by the FIA and the plans other teams are making, especially last season’s constructor winner, McLaren Mercedes. All we can do right now is be hopeful as we watch how things unfold this coming March.
