Who’s closest to an F1 race ban? Penalty points update after Las Vegas 2025. F1 drivers’ penalty points updated following the 2025 Las Vegas race.

F1 penalty points, the updated situation after the 2025 Las Vegas GP

Alongside the drivers’ and constructors’ standings, today the penalty points table also needs to be updated. This is a ranking no Formula 1 driver ever wants to lead: being at the top of the list means being the most penalised competitor on the grid and, more importantly, getting dangerously close to a possible suspension.

The penalty point system is straightforward. A driver can accumulate a maximum of twelve points on their licence before receiving a race ban. These points remain valid for twelve months from the date of the infraction. Once the year has passed, the points expire, putting the driver “out of danger”.
