Who is the best F1 driver in history? Hard to say. There are too many differences between the various eras that have marked the history of motorsport. From Ayrton Senna to Michael Schumacher, including recent history makers like Lewis Hamilton. Fans have always been divided on this topic and it will probably be impossible to find an answer that everyone agrees on.
In a video recorded during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc was asked to “create” the best possible F1 driver. The Monegasque driver did not shy away from the challenge and assigned one of the required characteristics to those who he believes are or have been the best in that particular skill.
Overtaking, braking, personality, wet-weather ability, defense, and qualifying speed. These were the six qualities to be assigned that would then form the ideal driver.
In responding, Charles Leclerc did not hide being quite sure of his own abilities.
“Overtaking? You can’t choose yourself.”
CL: “I can’t? (laughs) Then I say Ayrton Senna.”
“Braking? You can choose yourself, just don’t do it always.”

“Personality?”
CL: “I would say myself. I think I have a good personality.”
“Wet-weather ability?”
CL: “Max Verstappen.”
“Defense?”
CL: “I say myself again.”
“Qualifying speed?”
CL: “If I were to look at this season, I’d say no because I’ve struggled a bit. But generally speaking, yes, I’d say myself.”
