Scuderia Ferrari has reshuffled its strategy team before the start of the 2023 Formula 1 championship, with the most important news being that ex-chief Inaki Rueda will now be moving to a factory role and will no longer join the team on track, after the Maranello team’s strategy decisions came under the spotlight during the previous Formula 1 campaign due to several high-profile costly mistakes, like the ones in Monaco, Silverstone or at the Hungaroring.
Spanish engineer Inaki Rueda who was the the sporting and strategy director, has now been moved off his role on the pitwall and will take a factory position which has the goal of supporting the sporting elements of the Italian side.
The one who will replace him is Ravin Jain, who has previously been a race strategy engineer at Maranello. Of Indian origin, and brought up in England, Ravin has a Physics undergraduate degree, and a master’s in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics, both from University of Oxford.
The 26-year-old Briton has been in the Maranello squad’s strategy department since 2015. In terms of F1 pedigree, he started his career in 2013 at a summer job at Caterham. Over there, his role revolved around data processing. The following season he moved to the Williams F1 team as part of the software design group in the strategy department. Finally, Jain took on a third summer job at Scuderia Ferrari back in 2015. Once again, he was recruited to be part of the strategy team. In addition to that, he was also part of the mathematical modeling group. After finishing his academics, Ravin Jain remained with the Maranello team on a full-time basis and has stuck with Ferrari ever since.
