Bryan Bozzi, Charles Leclerc’s new Ferrari race engineer
With a completely unexpected announcement, Scuderia Ferrari communicates the end of Xavi Marcos’s experience as Charles Leclerc’s track engineer. After years, in fact, the Monegasque driver’s track engineer will be replaced in a completely unexpected way.
Starting from the Imola Grand Prix, the two track engineers of the Ferrari drivers will be Italian. Xavier Marcos, Charles Leclerc’s wingman on the track, has just been “transferred” to another branch of the company and should no longer deal with Formula 1.
In his place will be Bryan Bozzi, as announced a few minutes ago by the Scuderia. Bryan Bozzi graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Bath, England.
Until the Miami Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc’s Performance Engineer, Bryan Bozzi has over ten years of experience in the company. He was hired by Ferrari in 2012 and for the first two years, he dealt with the wind tunnel in Maranello. He then moved to work more closely with the team: his transfer to the Ferrari aerodynamics group took place in December 2014, where he remained until November 2018. From that moment on, he worked as a “racing” engineer and therefore in contact with the drivers, specifically with the Monegasque.
The collaboration between Charles Leclerc and Xavi Marcos had been going on for quite some time. The news from Maranello comes as a bolt from the blue, therefore. Surely, no one expected Marcos’s departure to come so quickly and to be immediately replaced.
