The new single-seater that Scuderia Ferrari will use to compete in the 2023 Formula 1 Championship will be officially presented to fans and the media on February 14th. There is great expectation, as for all the launches of the Prancing Horse single-seaters, but also for finding out the name of the sixty-ninth car built in Maranello to participate in a Formula 1 world championship.
The staff of the CircusF1.com Italian website has shared some possible options, aided by some indiscretion filtered by sources close to the Maranello team, regarding the name of the Ferrari F1 2023 car, which is now known as project name 675.
The name of the sixty-ninth car built by Ferrari for Formula 1 could be decided based on continuity with the past year or, given the change of Team Principal, Ferrari could opt for a radical change as compared to the recent past.
Last year the acronym F1-75 combined the name of the motorsport category with the number 75 which referred to the anniversary that the company celebrated in 2022. In Maranello, in fact, on 12 March 1947 Enzo Ferrari started the engine of the 125 S for the first time.
Below is a list of names that are on Fred Vasseur’s table and that the French manager has to decide on as soon as possible, for the preparation of all the material related to communication, merchandising, etc…

FERRARI F1-76
In continuity with last year, the new car could be called F1-76. It had already happened in 2018 when the SF71H took over from the SF70H. If the team decides not to use 76 and instead keep the name of the motorsport category, the choice could be F1-23 or F1-2023.
Ferrari F2023
Taking a careful look at the Scuderia’s most recent and successful past, the most fascinating name to try to reopen a winning cycle could be just this: F2023. The last 6 constructors’ and 5 drivers’ titles have been won with cars that used this name. From 2001 to 2004, respectively with F2001, F2002, F2003-GA and F2004. Furthermore, in the two winning years 2007 (drivers’ and constructors’ title) and 2008 (constructors’ title) the Ferrari single-seaters returned to the name F2007 and F2008, after the exception of 2006, when the name used was 248 F1.
FERRARI SF23
From 2015 to 2021, Scuderia Ferrari named all of its single-seaters by placing the letters S (Scuderia) and F (Ferrari) before a numerical abbreviation. This choice was interrupted last year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Scuderia. One hypothesis on Frederic Vasseur’s table is that of returning to having the two letters “SF” preceding a “number”: SF23 is the most probable one, if this path is chosen. The other possible alternatives in this regarding are: SF-23, SF2023 or SF-2023.
