Comments from Sky analysts after the disappointing results and performance of Scuderia Ferrari in the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix
The first to speak was Ivan Capelli, who stated: “Ferrari got lost because of the layout, where there are no lateral loads to heat the tires.”
“They were caught off guard on Friday because the car had a lot of fuel and they managed to make it work, but as they gradually emptied the tank, they lost their way,” the former driver added.
Matteo Bobbi, on the other hand, focused on the decision to fit Charles Leclerc with hard tires before the competitors, saying: “It could have been an attempt in an already lost race.”
“If you managed to survive another 2/3 laps, which was impossible, you would then have a free pit stop. It was worth trying in that situation.”
“Overall, I don’t know what happened to Ferrari, they will have to analyze it carefully; but I believe that at the moment they are the third force, net of the Monaco victory,” he concluded.
Leo Turrini, however, expressed his view as follows: “Ferrari was behind Aston Martin, Williams, and the former Minardi; this was disheartening.” – the Italian journalist admitted.

“Two weeks after the Monte Carlo triumph, the disenchantment is burning. Obviously, it was foolish to imagine, after Sunday in the Principality, a world championship SF-24: miracles do not exist in Formula 1, but not like this.”
“There is something vaguely inexplicable, something incomprehensible. Since Saturday’s qualifying, it was evident that nothing was working on Charles Leclerc’s and Carlos Sainz‘s cars,” he added.
Finally, Umberto Zapelloni pointed out that: “They went there convinced they could win, from the words of Fred Vasseur and Charles Leclerc they were supposed to be in the fight.”
