The FIA has officially confirmed the points where it will be possible to exploit the DRS system in the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, eighth round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
After the race won by Max Verstappen at Le Castellet against Lewis Hamilton, with relative extension in the world championship standings, teams and drivers will return to battle on the always spectacular Red Bull Ring track, this year confirmed in a double appointment as in the past season.
The race commission, for the weekend that will take place under the name “Styrian Grand Prix”, has chosen to activate three DRS zones, which will be positioned in the main straight of the Austrian circuit, in the extension leading from corners 1 to 3 (in between there is the half-turn of 2) and in the opposite line that leads the drivers from Turn 3 to Turn 4. The detection points, one for each sector, will be placed just before corners 10, 1 and 3.
The weekend program, we recall, includes two free sessions lasting one hour on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning. These 60 minutes of work on the track will be the last chance for teams and drivers to work on the set-up in view of qualifying, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
