The 70th Anniversary GP acted as the middle act of a second run of triple-headers on the reshuffle 2020 F1 calendar, with the trio set to be completed with the Spanish GP this weekend.

The 50th Spanish GP takes place this Sunday at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit, well known to all the drivers who rack up big mileage here during pre-season testing. The track is a mix of fast and slow corners and turn 3 is especially demanding, requiring a well balanced car. The final part used to be very quick, but for several years now it features a slow chicane which leads onto the start-finish straight.

From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, although this time Montmelo will most likely be a straightforward weekend. Conditions appear excellent ahead of the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix weekend. The temperature for race day is expected to be around 30-31 degrees, while according to the latest forecast, there is no chance of rain for Friday, Saturday or Sunday afternoon. However, the high temperatures could lead to tyre management difficulties, as was the case last weekend in Silverstone, which means the free practice sessions will be very important to understand the behaviour of the tyres in qualifying and race simulations.
