Looking ahead to the 15th round of the 2020 Formula One season at the Bahrain International Circuit.
When it comes to set-up, the focus is very much on tuning the car for low and medium-speed corners, because the high-speed sections of track are easily taken flat-out. Mechanical grip is an important area in Bahrain, to propel the cars out of the slow turns. This is in stark contrast to the set-up approach for tracks like Silverstone and Mugello, where high-speed corner performance is the priority.
2020 Bahrain Grand Prix weather forecast (Weather Info Sakhir):
From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, especilly given the fact that this time weather conditions in Sakhir look uncertain, at least for Saturday afternoon. The temperature for race day is expected to be around 25-26 degrees, while according to the latest forecast, there is some chance of rain for Saturday, as a couple of showers will be around the track. The free practice sesions on Friday and race on Sunday will most likely place in dry conditions.
