On 6th April 2008, the Bahrain Grand Prix was held at Sakhir. In qualifying, the 2007 winner Felipe Massa, was just pipped for pole by Poland’s Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber. The other Ferrari of workd champion Kimi Raikkonen started from fourth, behind Hamilton.
At the start, Felipe jumped Kubica and took off, while Hamilton hesitated allowing Raikkonen through into third. The Brazilian’s Ferrari was clearly superior but in the other F2008, Kimi was having to fight tooth and nail to get the better of Kubica and his team-mate Nick Heidfeld.
Felipe Massa was first past the flag to take his sixth career win and his first points of the season after two races to forget. Kimi Raikkonen’s second place, combined with a no-score for Hamilton propelled the Finn into the championship lead.
