The 2001 Hungarian Grand Prix was held at Hungaroring on 19 August 2001. It was the 13th race of the 2001 FIA Formula One World Championship and the 16th edition of the event as part of the series.
Scuderia Ferrari German driver Michael Schumacher won the 77-lap race from pole position. His teammate Rubens Barrichello finished second and David Coulthard was third for McLaren.
Michael took his seventh victory of the season and the 51st of his career in a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes, 49.675 seconds at an average speed of 180.344 km/h (112.061 mph), equalling Prost’s all-time wins record. He became the 2001 Drivers’ Champion as Coulthard could not catch his points total with four races left in the season.
