On a track less severe on tyres like the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, Ferrari bets on a one pit stop wrong-footing Red Bull. And thanks to his second place Charles Leclerc becomes 2022 vice-champion. The Monegasque’s driving sensitivity has been supported by the good traction features of the F1 75, representing one of its strong points.
Actually Ferrari coasted for half of the season thanks to an immediately winning F1-75, but then Maranello wasn’t able to maintain a high development level in the second part of the year. Its technical loss and its choice to put aside its project endangered both the Drivers and Constructors championships. A risky but indispensible move to work on new solutions in the 2023 perspective, where the engine is still the core of the future single-seater.
