Formula 1’s official site has recently released a very interesting video in order to compare Kimi Raikkonen’s fastest lap form the 2017 pre-season testing with Lewis Hamilton’s pole lap last year in Barcelona. The Mercedes driver’s second flying lap at the Circuit de Catalunya last season was good enough for a time of 1:22:000 dead – which secured what was his 50th pole of his career. That lap now does not seem so impressive when compared to Kimi Raikkonen‘s 1:18:634 – that was set on the final day of 2017 Winter Testing – and perfectly illustrates just how big of an impact the new aerodynamic rules will have on the 2017 Formula One championshp.
The grip through the corners is one of the most important standouts of the Scuderia Ferrari driver’s lap, and the fact that it was not exactly a perfect lap shows that there was certainly more pace for the SF70H to produce an even faster lap.
