If the step forward made by Scuderia Ferrari is due to technical developments and improvements, Mercedes sets its correction in the areas that were wrong in the context of the initial project of the W13. And it’s exactly the ground effect that represents the breaking point of the two projects.
The better balance of the downforce is one of the F1-75’s strong points that is well layed and progressive in the corners compared to a Mercedes struggling to keep a constant line in the high speed sectors where the porpoising pumping is still a handicap for the drivers. A differentiating factor enabling Ferrari to have a faster and more consistent race pace compared to the W13 that has still one of its biggest criticalities in this aspect.
