Estre was the last Hypercar driver to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 3m24.634s in the #6 factory Porsche Penske 963. This impressive lap allowed him to surpass the #3 Cadillac, which had dominated most of the 30-minute session with Sebastien Bourdais at the wheel, by a margin of 0.148s.
Bourdais initially set the pace in the pole shootout with a lap of 3m25.294s in the extra entry from Chip Ganassi Racing. He then remained on track during the first run, improving his time to 3m24.816s.
The two Ganassi Cadillacs will now start second and third, followed by the factory Ferraris in fourth and fifth. Alessandro Pier Guidi, in the #51 car, was the faster of the two 499Ps, outpacing his teammate Antonio Fuoco by over four-tenths of a second. Fuoco had to abort his final run after making an error at the Dunlop Chicane.
