It came as a huge surprise to fans when Vettel, after so long without a win, sneakily stole the victory in September at the Singapore Grand Prix. Fans have been following the dry spell for some time now and just as supporters would have bet on any other driver over here, his win came in swooping down on his opponents. Needless to say, the professional driver celebrates in victory as his dry spell comes to a close.
About Sebastian Vettel’s Dry Run
The last time world championship driver Sebastian Vettel took a win was in Belgium, approximately 400 days ago from the Singapore Grand Prix. His win was in Belgium and little did Vettel know it would be his last win for over a year. Thankfully fate intervened gave the Ferrari driver took this win over teammate Charles Leclerc.
Vettel told the media that he took a lot of energy from messages and handwritten letters from supporters and fans, the stories shared their own mishaps and encouraged the racer to keep the faith. Vettel went on to say that even though everything is centred around racing, racing isn’t the most important thing.
The Race
In the early stages of the race, Leclerc led Lewis Hamilton, renowned and seasoned Mercedes driver and stayed ahead while the leading teams made a tyre check stop. Nico Hulkenberg was up in the pit window and Ferrari protecting Vettel by boxing him in and allowing him to take the lead over Renault. Now Vettel, with a new set of tyres, stole the lead from Leclerc who had to make a pit stop for his tyres. Naturally, Leclerc wasn’t too pleased and could be heard on the radio querying the move. However, he was ordered to hold his position, allowing Vettel the win.
A number of 3 safety cars were called for 2 of the drivers, George Russell and Kimi Raikkonen while a DNF was ordered for Sergio Perez. This game Vettel the opportunity he needed to claim his 5th Singapore Grand Prix win, the most he has ever won at one given course for the same title.

Charles Leclerc on Sebastian Vettel’s Win
As supporters can imagine, especially those who hadn’t had the opportunity to watch the events of the race unfold, Charles Leclerc was disgruntled after teammate took his win due to a strategy set up by Ferrari. The racer was reported to be ‘furious’ and could be heard saying over the radio that he couldn’t understand the undercut and that it would be discussed after the race.
Needless to say, we wonder what went down after Vettel stole the victory.
