“Under normal circumstances, a top 5 position is not possible for us” – Sebastian Vettel. Seb stands behind Ferrari.

Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel believes there is an improvement with the SF1000 as a result of the updates which were used for the second race at the Red Bull Ring, but not enough to close the gap to Red Bull, Racing Point and McLaren or to pull away from Renault. It must be worrying for Ferrari that the next aerodynamic step will take some time.

However, Sebastian Vettel stands behind the Maranello team: “It was a great achievement of the factory to bring forward the complete upgrade by one week. My feeling is it’s doing what it’s supposed to do. But we must also realize that we would have liked to have seen a bigger step forward.”

Regarding the lap 1 incident, Sebastian Vettel confirmed that Charles Leclerc apologized immediately: “He told me he messed up. That settles the matter for me. I hold no grudges. In the end it is bitter for both of us, because the race should have given us answers to our questions. Under normal circumstances a position in the Top 5 is not possible. At best, I was expecting P6…It is very disappointing, but in my mindset, I am generally optimistic and at least I don’t have to wait long to be back in the car, so let’s hope that Hungary will be a better place for us.” – the German driver concluded.
