After a 2023 Formula One season where all twenty drivers were confirmed for the following season for the first time in Formula 1 history, a tumultuous 2024 driver market was anticipated, with eight drivers, including Carlos Sainz, still undecided about their future.
In this context, the focus is not only on the current drivers but also on new talents, with Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman expected to be promoted from Formula 2 and find seats at Mercedes and Haas, respectively.
During an appearance on the Nude Project podcast, the Ferrari driver inadvertently provided crucial details about the future of the two young drivers: “There are twenty drivers in Formula 1 now, and next year two new ones will arrive, because the other eighteen will stay.” – the current Ferrari driver pointed out.
“What are the chances of being the one who, at 19 or 20 years old, is reaching the peak or winning categories for which a Formula 1 team says, ‘Okay, we’ll give you the opportunity to debut because we believe you are better than one of the existing Formula 1 drivers?’” – Carlos Sainz concluded.
