F1 Turkey Grand Prix set to return after six-year absence
As we reported in recent days, it is now only a matter of time before the Turkish Grand Prix is officially confirmed, marking the return of the event to the Formula 1 calendar after a six-year absence.
Formula 1 has reached an agreement with Turkey to include the Grand Prix in the calendar starting from the 2027 season. Negotiations between the FIA, F1, and Turkish authorities have concluded successfully, and the deal is now defined in its main details. Only the formal signing remains, which at this point is considered a mere formality, according to Motorsport.
A new opportunity for Turkey in F1
The return of Turkey strengthens Formula 1’s presence in the region between Eastern Europe and the Middle East, further expanding its geographic reach. Istanbul Park, after years of near-total absence from the calendar, will return as a regular fixture, at least initially for 2027. Precise details about the contract duration beyond 2027 or the financial terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.
Being included in the 2027 calendar is seen as an important step to consolidate a long-term relationship. Turkish authorities and local organizers have shown strong commitment to bringing Formula 1 back on a permanent basis, leveraging the historical popularity of the track and the growing interest in the return of classic races beloved by fans.
The Turkish Grand Prix is therefore set to return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2027 following a successful agreement between the FIA and local authorities, marking a significant move to bring back the highly-regarded Istanbul Park circuit as a permanent fixture in the sport’s expanding global schedule.
